The delegation of the Kingdom of Serbia Association accompanied Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine and attended the central celebration of the eight centuries of the independence of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Zica Monastery, on October 6, 2019.

   

The Holy Bishops’ Liturgy was led by His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia Mr. Irinej with other bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The President of the Executive Board of the Kingdom of Serbia Association, Mr. Predrag Medenica, led the official delegation of the Association to celebrate 800 years of the independence of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Zica Monastery.

Medenica also on this occasion accompanied His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander in celebration of the great anniversary of our church.

During the festive part Mr. Medenica congratulated to His Holiness the Patriarch of Serbia this anniversary on behalf of the Kingdom of Serbia Association and wished many more fruitful years at the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church. His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia congratulated us on the good work of the Kingdoms of Serbia Association and in particular commended our actions of assistance and frequent visits to the sanctuaries in Kosovo and Metohija.

   

   

The Kingdom of Serbia Association was the only monarchist organization officially invited to celebrate the great holiday of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

After obtaining the indepedence of the Serbian church in 1219, the Archbishopy and the first Archbishop of Serbia – Saint Sava, were lovated in the Žiča monastery.

The celebration of 800 years of the Serbian Orthodox Church will continue on Monday at the Patriarchate in Pec.
