Kingdom of Serbia Association had the honor that His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Mr. Irinej cut our “slava” cake, on our Patron Saint Day, St. Simeon the Myrrh-streaming, February 26th, 2016.
Members of the Association attended the Holy Liturgy in the Chapel of the Patriarchate of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade, which is dedicated to St. Simeon.
“Slava” cake (ser. slavski kolač) is traditional bread that Serbs make for their Patron Saint Day. It is taken in the church on the morning of the Patron Saint Day, where priest read the prayers dedicated to the Patron Saint and then cut the slava cake, making the sign of cross on it and pours it with wine.
