Kingdom of Serbia Association’s Municipal Board in Velika Plana organized the first “King’s cup”, a football tournament for young categories of players, and the tournament was officially opened by our Patron, HRH Crown Prince Alexander on 22nd August, 2015.
The event begun in front of the Municipal hall building in Velika Plana, where the Royal Couple was welcomed by large number of Kingdom of Serbia Association’s members and citizens of Velika Plana who wanted to greet Their Royal Highnesses. Crown Prince and Crown Princess have met with Mayor of Velika Plana Mr. Dejan Sulkic at this cabinet, and discussed the situation in this Municipality and ways how the Royal Family can help solve them and support citizens of this Municipality.
The Royal Couple took a walk through the city and spoke with numerous citizens. After that they have visited premises of Kingdom of Serbia Association’s Board in Velika Plana.
After that came the official opening of the “King’s Cup” Football Tournament at the “Morava” Stadium. The tournament gathered over 70 teams with over 500 players born from 2003 to 2007. After the parade of the teams, and original version of National Anthem, Crown Prince Alexander addressed the participants:
“My wife Crown Princess Katherine and I are very happy to be with you here today. We are especially happy that the reason for our visit is such a nice sports event. Sport is very important for social and cultural development of every community. I congratulate Kingdom of Serbia Association and Football Club “Velika Plana” for organizing this tournament that has gathered a great number of wonderful young people! Talented and diligent young people are future of our sport and our country!” emphasized the Crown Prince.
After the official opening, the Crown Prince was awarded with a special “King’s Cup” Trophy, made by Velika Plana Municipal Board.
The Royal Couple also attended the opening game, and after that visited Radovanovic Winery in Krnjevo, great friends and supporters both of the Royal Family and KS Association, and ethno village “Moravski konaci” near Velika Plana.
Medals and trophies are prepared for teams that win one of the first four places in their age category.
The tournament continued also on Sunday, 23rd August 2015.
